About
Griffon was created in 2003 to provide a dynamic focus for a concerted effort to develop local economic, social care and regeneration projects by facilitating an area wide partnership of local interest. The town of North Walsham is a hub for the surrounding parishes which together have a population of about 26,000 and form a distinctive area of North Norfolk with its own unique identity.
The Griffon area enjoys a rich heritage and a legacy of many beautiful medieval churches and buildings combined with areas of outstanding natural beauty. Highlighting these heritage treasures through this website will continue to establish this area of Norfolk as a viable tourism destination, bringing vital economic benefits to the local community.
Neil Storey, author, historical consultant and local historian has worked with Griffon for many years, regularly entertaining elderly and disabled people in our community groups and running the incredibly popular ‘Griffon Ghost Walks’. Neil worked tirelessly on this project, this part of Norfolk is his home and believes that the website will make a positive difference to his home town of North Walsham and district.
