The Ghost Hunters Trail

North Norfolk is home to no end of strange, supernatural tales, linked to its stately homes, coastal cliffs, marshes and woodlands. This trail will take you to some of the locations where ghosts and apparitions have been sighted. We can’t guarantee you will have a supernatural encounter but, with the help of these tales, you can at least let your imagination run wild!

This trail begins in the beautiful hill top woodland known as The Roman Camp, just above West Runton on the North Norfolk Coast. You will learn the terrifying tale of The Shreiking Pits, before moving on to Felbrigg Hall to meet the ghost of William Windham in his library.

Watch out for Black Shuck, the ghost of the Lone Coastguardsman and the Headless Smuggler as you travel south along the coast. The trail finishes in Witton Woods, site of a ghastly murder story involving Bloody Will Suffolk.

A circular walking trail which starts and ends at the Roman Camp National Trust car park can be downloaded here.
